Shore / Rock Fishing from Perranporth Beach, Cornwall
The main fish species caught here is Bass, although I’ve caught the odd plaice and dab too.
From the beach, big bass can be caught on the right hand side of the beach (facing the sea), but you need to be able to cast far, as the breakers are far apart, and the bass normally feed around the third breaker back.
Alternatively, on the left hand side of the beach, you can fish from the steps, or even the very top of the cliff. Along this side there are 3 separate steps, opposite chapel rock, one below the top car park (on the cliff) and the other towards the youth hostel, a little way around the cliff. All three spots produce bass, but my preference is the middle set of steps, as I’ve caught more frequently here.
